There are only 47 of these towers surviving of the 130 or so that we're built on the South East coast during the Napoleonic wars.
Five of these are in Felixstowe one of which was incorporated into the former Bartlett Hospital, now being converted into luxury flats. Two are domestic dwellings and one is used by cows watch and the Suffolk Wildlife Trust use it for bird ringing etc.
