Prickly Pears

On the lovely Calabrian coast looking towards Tropea. These are for sale in all the markets, personally I don't t like them. Nasty dry pippy and tasteless , but they do provide a lovely splash of colour.

They are lovely but I imagine everyone had to be pretty hungry the first time they decided to try eating them.
