The 1960s have been described as a time of wildfire-like revolution. Some remember peace and love, but others recall a time of rebellion, social movements and war. Whatever you recall, it was definitely a decade filled with drama.
Cool poster... I remember when I was a teenager in the 1990's looking at things from the 1960's wishing I was there. I know it is glamorised in the media these days but it did like look the ultimate time to just be yourself.
Love this! I'm a Richie Havens fan from waaaay back. Last saw him in concert about a year before he died. He was as awesome as when I first saw him in the early 70's. Wonderful vintage shot, Lin.
Their were good time and bad time it was definitely a time of beginnings and endings. JFK became president and later assassinated. There was the first man on the moon, Elvis went into the Army, Alfred Hickcock released pyscho, there was the Vietnam War, the Civil Rights Movement, the Cuban Missel Crises. The were the first televised Presidential Debates, the first person killed trying to get over the Berlin Wall. The first super Bowl, the first woman ion space. The first Wal-Maet. Jonny Carson took over the Tonight Show after Jack Parr walked off the set. There was the Great Train Robbery in England and the Beatles becMe famous in the U.S. There was all this and so much more. And the music was fantastic!
Wonderful poster, love the swirling colours. Thanks for sharing! I was in high school in the 60s. I remember the advent of the Beatles, and exactly where I was when Kennedy was assassinated. A memorable era.
@tristansmum I was in 3rd grade and remember the assassination being announced over the intercom. Our teacher cried, which was scary, and our parents came to pick up early.
@linnypinny I was in physics class when our physics teacher announced with a grave face that President Kennedy had been shot. In the class following that one, we were writing the first of our Christmas exams. Someone asked the teacher handing out the exams what was happening with Kennedy, and that teacher replied grimly, "He's dead". Then we had to concentrate on writing the exam. I can remember that as if it had happened yesterday.
