After a night of sleeting/raining/snowing our area is covered in what looks like snow, but is definitely glazed in ice. I wanted to fill my bird feeder, but it sits up on a landscaping hill that rises at about a 45 degree angle. My husband remembered he had some strap-on cleats he used once while ice fishing. They were immensely helpful. I was able to climb the hill twice to fill the feeders, although once I took the “express route” down on my backside.
I told Granna about this and she told me that Grandad uses his old golf shoes because of their metal spikes when going out to get the mail and the newpaper in the ice.
