My dad and stepmom took went on an Alaskan cruise several years ago and brought these back for my daughter. They’re matryoshka dolls from Russia, also known as nesting dolls. (If we remember nothing else from the last presidential campaign here in the US, we will never forget that Alaska and Russia are pretty close together.) There are nine in all, and the tiniest one is not even the size of a pea. I set it on a dime for comparison. I’m amazed that each and every one has painted details including a face.
No joke, but I took out our nesting dolls today and set them all up for a shot that I never ended up taking because I got a phone call. Craziness! Yours are very cool, and I especially like how you placed the small one on a dime for perspective. Ummm... that's tiny!
@erikadee I’ve had that happen a few times where I had an idea and then saw a similar picture in my feed. Go ahead and take the picture anyway. It’s impossible to be too original on this website!
These are beautiful. If you hadn't said the smallest one was on a dime, I never would have known it was that tiny! That is amazing. What craftmanship! I can't imagine how long it must have taken to make these, but I'm sure it was done with much love and care. How special that you have them and have honored them with a great photo.
