I’ve been struggling with how I feel about today’s news that Osama Bin Laden has been killed. Of course, I’m glad justice has been served, but I certainly don’t think dancing in the streets while waving the American flag and yelling USA at the top of my lungs is entirely appropriate. If anything it only fans the flames of hatred in the enemy. Bin Laden’s death may bring some closure and satisfaction, but it is by no means the end to terrorism.
I understand what you mean, I am glad that justice has been served but some of the vision that is being shown is in the same vein as the extremists that celebrated 9/11, which fan the hatred for them.
Interestingly alot of the people that seem to be chanted seem to be late teens and early twenties... 10 years ago they were only children...
I agree as well, as bad as he was, he still had a soul. He made the wrong choices and now is paying dearly for them. As will all that are not making the right choice and believing in the Christ that died for us
Poignant shot, agree completely with what you have said, "celebrating" death no matter who's is not right and just because others did the same on 9/11 doesn't make it right, nor acceptable.
I am, like you relieved that this small chapter has closed but...
LAst night when I first heard the news, my initial reaction was, how sad that it must ever get to this point, but when someone has been the focus of so much hatred and innocent death, an end had to come sooner or later, and his death was surely more humane than that of some of his victims. .
I know what you mean, its hard to be happy when someone dies, but I think if there ever was anyone that deserves it, he probably did, so long as he was a guilty as they led us to believe.
