Fire Brigade Demonstration - fat fire in your kitchen

The camping grounds we are staying in organised the local Fire Brigade to come & demonstrate to the campers how NOT to put put out an "oil" or "fat" fire should one happen in your kitchen.
The photos show the progression from smoking hot, to catching fire.
The fireman then threw a small container of water on the fire.
The third photo shows what happened.
NEVER DO THIS!
One way is to put the lid on the saucepan.
Put a fire blanket over it or if it is out of your control, call the fire brigade.
We all gained information from this demonstration.
Just thought to shared - this could save one of your lives !
Great collage! I bet a lot of major structure fires are started this way since I'm sure many people's first reaction is to try water.

Great lessons to have because you never know when it will happen.

A wonderful collage of an awesome demonstration. Even though you 'know' not to do it, to actually see it demonstrated is mind boggling how huge the wall of flame becomes.

Living next door to a fire station, I see the guys there practice putting out this kind of fire (and all kinds of fire) all year round. They're an interesting breed; fire fighter that is.

We all need to be reminded of this--many, many times. But to see it really makes an impression and makes it much easier to remember.
