Gone - old memories & local history - destroyed by fire.

Today on my way home I noticed this burnt out cottage at Rochedale. You can see the scorched trees.
I pass this way about twice a week, but in the past used to drive by daily.
I was saddened to see it had been destroyed by fire recently.
We have been driving by this house for 44 years - since we bought & built our house out this way.
It stood in the middle of a large piece of ground & at different times of the year part of it would be covered with a beautiful orange creeper.
An old lady used to live there many years ago & after she went, it was rented out to many different people.
It fell into a state of disrepair over the years.
As a small child our daughter used to say she was going to buy it & live in it when she grew up.
She was sad to see this picture today.
It's so sad when historical buildings are destroyed. They mean so much to all of us. Sad.

If those walls could talk, the stories they would tell. I too, am always sad to see history slipping away.

To lose such a place is so sad, so many memories gone.

@mary1440 @snowy @weebug @digitalrn - thank you all. It's funny how we pass by familiar places every day & take them for granted isn't it.
I can still clearly remember the old lady who used to live here & how she would shake out her mats each day all those years ago :)

At first I didn't recognise it. However, when Mum told me what street it was on, I was really upset. I remember when I was in high school, I used to say that when I was older, I'd get the money together and buy it, plants lots of trees and make it look really pretty.

Fate, vandals and other things have taken this dream of mine away. It was such a pretty house when I went to school and bus went past each day...
