Today is a sad day.
The boy in the picture is Daniel Morcombe. He disappeared without a trace, 8 years ago while waiting at a bus stop near his home up the north coast from Brisbane.
He was on his way to buy Christmas presents for his family.
This has been the longest case in the history of Australia of a missing person that has remained active.
He was one of a twin too.
There was an announcement tonight at 7.25pm to say they made an arrest of a paedophile who was a suspect years ago.
I have had this flyer on my noticeboard since he went missing.
Everyone received one at the time of his disappearance, to help prompt a memory or give a clue as to what might have happened to Daniel.
I am relieved at last that his parents will have closure.
I know this is not an easy subject to put up on 365, but there has rarely been a day gone by in the past 8 years that I have not thought of Daniel & that it could have been one of our own family or friends.
We are so lucky not to have such sadness in our lives.
Somethig like this really does put our "troubles" in proper perspective. Sending up prayers for this young man, his friends and family. And God bless the police and volunteers who, I am sure, spent countless hours helping to solve this case.
I was going to do something like this myself. This is certainly big news. As you know I work for the QPS in the city and it took most of my department by surprise, too. Notch up a win for the good guys. RIP Daniel.
Cases like this really are hard to handle because of the target. And the pain and agony Parents go through not knowing. I could not begin to imagine the horror. I hope if it is factual and they have the right person, somehow the family will be able to put their pain to rest.
Sad story if the guy they arrested today is guilty , I don't know if capitol punishment is still in force in Aus, he should be hung. Sorry if my opinion does not sit right with some of you but this child did not ask to be murdered or any one else it happens to , the killer knows what he is doingis wrong.Jail is the easy option.
