Baby Curlews

This collage is a bit messy, but the dead trees tell a story.
Bernie & I went for a drive to Victoria Point today. Relatives of mine who moved to a Retirement Village recently, always had Curlews in their yard for 35 years or more.
When they sold their home, the buyers did not like the birds & said they would get rid of the trees they nested under. Well true to their word, they poisoned the trees, but the birds still come back every year to nest.
We drove past their old house & there they were. There were four of them. These birds are so calm & peaceful & don't harm anyone.
Sad how people threaten the wildlife for no particular reason.
I do hope they do not poison them

What a sad story, but such beautiful birds - how did you manage to get so close without being in the garden?

That is sad, but I think it is an impossibiity to change man's ways in today's society

@busylady - these birds are quite tame & don't move when you approach. They just stand very still.

@digitalrn - it is sad when things like this happen. These birds do not make a noise or intrude at all.

What dreadful people. Why are they so threatened by such lovely birds?

Aww, they're so cute! I can't understand why anyone would want to get rid of them or harm them.
