Mimosa Flower

It’s been too hot this summer in Southern California to take our walk before 5pm. Unfortunately at that time of day the winds kick up making it difficult to get a good close up photo! I’ve tried many times to take a Mimosa flower photo that are just a blur but today I’m posting one that’s less blurry!

This is an explanation of why we have strong afternoon winds:

In summer, the sun bakes inland areas, heating them up, causing the air to expand, and lowering the pressure. The coast stays relatively cool because of the cold ocean water, meaning the air is denser and higher pressure. Air flows from high to low pressure, so the greater the difference in temperature between interior and coast, the stronger the westerly winds.
