I found this statue at the Hurstbourne Green Office Park. My first thought was, why is there a statue of Bacchus in front of a telecommunication supply office? Took some photos, lighting wasn't great and getting the shot without the surrounding buildings showing wasn't easy. When I got home I did some research and couldn't find much info but did find that it is believed that the statue is one of the few items that is left from the Ormsby Village Orphanage. It was in use from 1920-1967. There is also one house left from the Orphanage but all of the rest of the buildings were razed to built the office parks.
If this is true, it leads to an even more interesting question. Why was there a statue of Bacchus at an orphanage?
