de'lion by ltodd

de'lion

This was taken very early in the morning, just as the sun melted the frost (can you see the tiny droplets?). I was fascinated by the complexity of the the 'heart' of the dandelion.
This is gorgeous!!

Thanks @nicolecampbell & @kimmiesue - this shot is something a bit different for me - & once again I learnt that I need to 'really look' at the everyday things that are right in front of our eyes!

wow, that is stunning, I think one of the best dandelion shots I have seen. I love the detail and the little droplets, awesome in b&w :)

@mikew - thanks - I 'think' (or hope) my B&W 'eyes' are slowly improving, thanks to the 365 chalenge. It is really such a huge learning curve!

gee thanks @tkeen , I was a bit worried about putting this up cos I know dandelions are such a popular subject to photograph.

Lovely - interested to know how you photographed it - did you pick it and put against a dark back ground or take one with you? Really interested in this type of image would love to have a go my self not sure how to do it though :-)

HI @yumyum46, I kneeled down on the lawn to take the shot, which had lots of dark green foliage in the background. I don't have a dedicated macro lens, so I focussed in as close as possible, and then cropped the image. I converted to B&W using a trial & error system (ie lots of 'undo') - using a coloured filter to accentuate the contrast (sorry, I did not record which colour & I am not clever enough to know just by looking at the final image!!). I then applied about a 50% pseudo-infrared filter just out of curiosity, and liked the result, so that was it. The sun was just starting to hit the folliage, and I think it was the natural light that caused the lovely 'feather duster' effect.
