vitreous flora

This was an experiment in lighting flowers from behind with an LED torch and then I then happened to try a new filter on the shot. I hope the subtle dark red tones are visible on your monitor - I initially had a much tighter crop, (focussing the texture ) but decided I preferred the contrast in lighting and the form in this crop.

I am reading Annie Leibovitz's autobiography 'At work' at the moment. The lighting she works with in her portraits is SO incredibly beautiful it seems to actually become 'one' with the subjects - rather than 'striking' the body, it gently wraps and embraces it.
Beautiful, they look like they are made of glass.
