FJ

This Aussie icon is the FJ Holden, the second "All Australian" made car, and the first Australian made car to be exported. Manufactured between 1953 and 1956, it was a favourite for many years after that - and my father, brother and sister all owned one at the same time in the late 1960's. ( I remember the speed of the windscreen wipers was linked to the speed of the accelerator pedal!)

In the past, the car industry was a key part of Australia's manufacturing sector, and both my father and my uncle worked at the Holden assembly plant in Adelaide in the 1970's.

I happened upon this restored car in the back streets of Yass, ( a small country town in NSW) and how I wished I owned a wide angle lens!
After months of frustration with HDR, I have at last improved my control of image alignment, and HDR tone control. I am pretty happy with this shot - achieving the 1950's look with a background that includes the town church, overgrown 'lawn' tennis courts, a hill with grazing pasture, and even gum trees - all typical Aussie country town sights that complement the 'ultimate' Aussie car!
Very cool shot. Love the editing and retro framing.

Cool shot and great piece of history. Most people think the FJ was the first car but you are spot on with the fact it was the second.
