Another looong day at work, and I return home to find this preying mantis guarding the screen door. Fortunately he stayed around while I took a few shots - (he did not co-operate with my directions to improve my composition though!! ) then hopped away!
Never having seen one in a macro shot, I had to look up what it was. Look at that jawline & mouth! Interesting critters, but creepy looking!
These fellows are our friends in the garden, keeping those other pesky pests to a minimum.
