Never be afraid to try something new. Remember, amateurs built the ark, professionals built the Titanic. --- Unknown.
In 1785 a dirigible airship crossed the English Channel. If man had not tried something new, intercontinental travel would still be via sailing ships.
Fear of failure is very common, it is fear of the uncomfortable feelings of ridicule, criticism and rejection. But we really learn from " trial ...and error". Perhaps "failure" then, is really only a perception ?
How does this have anything to do with my photo for the day?? Well, I had a 'great' idea to place the speedlight under a vintage colander ( http://365project.org/ltodd/365/2012-02-08) to capture some pinpoint rays of light . ....but it turned out such an EPIC 'fail', sadly only noticed after downloading from the camera, ....so here it is but ...inverted in processing so the light that escaped onto the wood is now blue; dirigible PS brush overlaid, and some texture applied.
Well, by definition it is an edited photograph, and the lesson learnt.... is to check the LCD screen more carefully when I am feeling poorly! :D

This is amaazing Lyn! Looks like an illustration out of an old adventure story... I love that you used a colander, that really made me smile and I didn't even notice until I read the description! Yes three cheers for failure especially when it takes you somewhere new ;) xx
@judithdeacon Not sure if you have used PS 'brushes' or not - but there are thousands on the net to download for free, and such fun to use! (think monochrome 'stamp' rather than what you might think of as a 'brush') http://browse.deviantart.com/resources/applications/psbrushes/ is a great place to start, but you might need to Google how to use them if you haven't used them before, but it is really worth the effort learning about them. Let me know if you get stuck at all.
