patina

It is fashionable to add grunge to age photographs, distress furniture, even purchase faded and ripped jeans - efforts to represent 'weathered, unique and real' to make something stand out from the crowd.

My Grandfather had great patina of body and soul.

I loosely followed a tutorial at http://frenchkisstextures.com/before-after/before-after-vintage-still-life-with-filters-and-texture/ - mostly to learn more about subtle colour toning using textures. I did not need to add additional grunge to my fence! 365 helps me to see beauty in many unexpected places. :D
This caught my eye immediately on the latest page, an excellent photo in a really impressive album from what I've seen so far.

@aspada just don't push the fence - it is about to fall down! :D

@jenrobcarr thanks Jennifer - I am glad the uploaded version has not collapsed into a congealed brown mess!

@lesleyallen - thank for the positive comments Lesley :) I used some texture overlays to enhance the tones, but I did not turn it to sepia or split processing. In Australia in the 70's, pretty much everything that did not move was painted the colour called 'Mission Brown', and the remnants are on the fence still, and the ivy was killed by the recent frosts. I did do just a little dodge & burn on the leaves.

@monika64 - thanks Monika - just looked at it enlarged, & I agree it looks better with the black background. I knew it was not a shot that was going to be appealing as a thumbnail!!
