Just a quck drive from Palma in Majorca, is Palmanova. This is the fist time I have ever seen beaches completely covered in lounge chairs and umbrellas - Australians will usually seek out the largest amount of personal space on a beach, but this beach was the complete opposite !!
I love that there is a rebel beach go-er lying on the beautiful soft sand....
...and I guess you cant even play a game of beach cricket in the middle of the umbrellas either!!
Great beach scene! It is interesting how people congregate close together on the beaches along the Mediterranean. In the States, most
beach goers stake out their own territory.
What a fun shot! That's crazy that there are so many chairs! Although I've seen beaches just as crowded along the Jersey Shore, there is still an unwritten law of how many inches should be between you and the next person. Great shot!
What an interesting discussion! (on the back of a great composition by the way) I wonder if it's to do with the amount of space available in both the US and Australia as compared with us in Europe? Are we perhaps more used, culturally, to having very little space, so we don't expect it?
There is a family story about being on the French Riviera out of season, and parking our English registered car beside a deserted promenade. We went for a walk and lunch, and returned some hours later to find just one other car, also English, parked right next to ours on an otherwise deserted sea-front! Maybe it's in our upbringing!!
