I wanted to learn a bit more about my 5-in-1 reflector/diffuser, so set up some experimental shots. In this shot I softened the the late afternoon light with the diffuser, and positioned myself right next to it. I was lying on my side to position the terracotta garden pot as the background.
Aperture priority (F4) and I ttried various exposure compensation values / spot metering to shoot white whites but retaining detail.
It has to go in my favorites. So lovely against the essentially plain terracotta background. I do like that there is a bit of texture to the terracotta.
One small suggestion, as I look at it. I would crop it very slightly on the right to get rid of the two small stray bits -- partial white petal and in the upper corner a tiny bit of green stem. Otherwise, as I said, really lovely.
@mcsiegle thanks so much Mary! - I agree totally with the cropping - I had been working on my small laptop, so had not noticed the stray bits until I saw it on the full screen! ( ...or the small dirt particles on the flowers! LOL!)
