I am on a big adventure and will let you guess where I am!
Day 1 and I hope the weather improves! I loved the statues against the menacing sky, but after a few failed attempts at HDR - I left it at this.
This is the first shot with my shiny new 24-70. Crazy sharp, but also crazy heavy ( not really sure I gave that quite enough consideration!) - I hope the weight on my back will be worth it!
Not being a sophisticated world traveler I am probably going to have to wait for someone else to know where you are. I do, however, love your first offering. And magnificent piece of architecture made all the more impressive by that dramatic sky.
No clue... But I'm jealous on principle.. I'd love to do some travelling... Sounds like you're lugging about some heavy kit... Can't wait to see what pictures you bring home :)
Hi all, this is not Germany, Austria, Russia or France (but France will most likely appear in future instalments!)
@nicolecampbell@northy - this is my long-service leave indulgence and I know I deserve some quality 'personal time' after the long hours/months/years I had put in at my previous job. I am going to enjoy every single second of this...
@jgpittenger - Oh I can see what you mean by that now! There are certainly some countries I have visited in the past that have an almost palpable sense of (historic) oppression.
Looks great in B&W! I discovered your destination by reading the letters on the building, but I won't spoil it for anyone else who wants to guess :-) Enjoy your trip.
Oh goody.... your on an overseas trip. I'm looking forward to coming on your journey with you. I have no idea where you are.... but I can take a good guess and say it's not Australia. haha.
Have a great trip.
@deborah63 thanks Debbie - you can still contact me via email at any time! I just had 5 days in Perth too, & cant believe how cold it was when I was there!
Shiny new 24 - 70 - v.spooky cos I just ordered one yesterday - I've been wanting one for a long time - excited about the crazy sharp. Ministero Agricultura makes me think Spain - gorgeous architectural photo. Now following so I can follow your journey.
@jocasta how are you liking your lens? I am really happy with mine. I am finding I am not using my wide angle lens I have with me much though because I can see the quality in the 24-70 shots is much better. I am shooting 3 x vertical shots a lot instead and stitching in LR panorama.
@ltodd Hi - absolutely love it - sharpest photos I've ever had - feel the same as you - my old 28-105 feels a bit redundant. Thanks for info about stitching 3 together - I'm going to try it next week.
@jocasta I will post a pano so you can see - out of 30 merges only 1 has not been perfect automatcally straight from LR! I should shoot manual focus & exposure, but mostly it works fine however I shoot! (5D is soo forgiving !!)
I would have guessed Madrid because Spanish is written on the building. Great capture with dramatic sky. I love my 24-70 and can't wait to get it back. My whole camera setup is in Korea for a few more months.
@ltodd -- I've been without my Canon since April when I broke my arm so I'm only using a point and shoot and my iPhone. So looking forward to getting my real setup back! Meanwhile, enjoying your photos . . . vicariously enjoying the 24-70!
