beauty is

found in the old and the new; the grand and the humble.

I stood here in a Roman ruins in Aléria on the east coast of the French island of Corsica, in an archaeological site of a village founded by the Phoenicians in the 6th century BC, and 'sacked' by the Vandals in 465 AD, rather overwhelmed by the sense of history. It is still 'pre-season' here, so no other tourist are present to disturb my thoughts. I have plenty of pictures of the ruins and artefacts from the long-gone Roman town, but choose instead to post a living connection to the ancient soil. Photography is not only about recording what you have seen.
