"But Honey, I need to buy that bottle of scotch for a photography prop".
I have bought some pretty odd things as props since joining 365 (random food items, toys, and even a real wedding dress!) , but today I realised just how my photographic 'eyes' work.
I was buying a bottle of wine at the local liquor barn and noticed the stunning wall of lighting behind the bottles of spirits. The warm, silky lighting was sooo seductive - I really wanted to see if I could capture that in a photo.
Not seduced by the alcohol, but the marketing lighting? What the???
Product photography used in magazines is quite different to other styles - challenging shadows, angles, colours, and reflections if shooting glass. I am still learning how to balance off camera flash lighting, so I needed a bunch of practice shots....all without sampling the wares...until afterwards! :)
Love how you got the glow in front of the bottles. Now you can take more shots with different levels in the bottle and glass, you know, just to see how the shots (pun intended) compare. By the way, how did you set up the lighting for this? It really is good.
Lovely glow. The story just reminds me that an interest in photography makes you notice things that otherwise we would all miss in simple activities such as shopping.
But... Not single malt? ;p
