Lake Ginninderra by ltodd

Lake Ginninderra

Here is my first street photography attempt. I was at the lake photographing some poles and looked up to see an interesting shape and, as is becoming more common since starting 365, I took a shot on instinct without any thought! I have a feeling his expression is a reflection of mine at the time, because it was really only after I had pressed the trigger I realised what I had done !!!
A long way to go for me with this style, but this is my line in the sand.... :D
Danae - I had downloaded the e-book, but not read it when I went out. (it is awesome & I have learnt a lot and been very inspired).
Excellent capture. This has to be hard...haven't tried it myself. Great expression and contrast.

@denisedaly - thanks Denise - yes, I have to work at overcoming my sense of apprehension.

The lines are wonderful and lead right to such an interesting subject! This is fantastic! It's funny how after you've been shooting for a while you instinctively see things - the contrast of the light background and the dark subject, the lines leading up to him. A fantastic start, you should be very proud!

This is a fantastic street shot! It's quite a rush, isn't it? I can see why it can be such fun - you never know what you're going to get, as it says on that e-book. I also downloaded it and started reading it last night. Thanks so much for the link, Danae. @ukdanae

great shot...I only tried street photography three or four times, but it´s terribly exciting...to be your first try it´s been a complete success, :)

@maribelrivera thankyou for your supportive comments. I love your colourful quirky Madrid street shots! I am inspired to stretch myself a bit further when I see images such as those.

@ltodd awww, thank you, but most of those shots are not of people....and you know, buildings or shop windows don´t turn around and insult you for taking their pics, hehehehe (but I got one or two insults too...I´ll take them as war injuries, LOL)...anyway, I find street photography really estimulating...;)

Great shot! Compliments need to be given for your instinctive sense and your ability to capture something so nice on your first try!

@aspada thankyou kindly Amy. I had just given up trying for an abstract tulip leaf macro and I still had "search for form" ringining in my ears. It really was a 'shoot first - think later' reaction. Even if I stll can't instinctively shoot abstract, I have learnt a lot from that challenge. I can now more clearly appreciate the goals and attempt to apply them to other styles. So a sincere thankyou for being such a part of my 365 journey! :)

This is really good Lyn. Well done as I know how out of your comfort zone this would have been! I love the reflection of the bridge in the water also. Such a gorgeous day for being out and about taking photos.

@loopy12 and @ladyrazzor - thankyou, I definitely would not have considered this a possibiity before starting 365 and being inspired by so many wonderfully different photographic styles.

@nicolecampbell - thanks, I know you understand how outside my comfort zone this makes me!! And I have thoroughly checked out the legal issues. (did you know how different the legislature is between photos taken in the NSW & ACT?).
Danae has a discussion item at http://365project.org/discuss/articles/8134/become-a-better-street-photographer

@ltodd - thanks for the article I will have to read it. Now that I am working in town a couple of days a week I can get some great street shots.
