The 365th Picture

*sigh* I did it. I took 365 pictures over the last 365 days, each on its own individual day. My self-imposed rules didn't allow substitutes or fill-ins. I wanted my first project to be pure. There were moments — oh, were there moments — when I wondered what in the world I'd been thinking when I signed on, imagining the goal wouldn't be tough at all. After seeing so many wonderful, interesting, creative images contributed from all over the world, I suddenly felt as if I had nothing to take pictures of in my boring little stretch of the planet. And then Macro March came along! It (and you) got me through the doldrums of a midwestern winter. This project inspired me to dabble in B&W photography and discover an unexpected appreciation for it qualities. This project got me out of my comfort zone in so many ways. It created an unexpected passion for all things rusty, and a renewed love of the color brown. I also thoroughly enjoyed my time spent roaming about the back roads with my husband, in search of a photo opportunity. From this I developed an appreciation for my part of the world, brown as it may be so much of the time.

This project has inspired so much learning. I look back at pictures taken in the beginning and actually laugh (and then grimace) at the difference in what I know and understand about my camera and editing programs. I can honestly say I've come a long ways! Here's the first picture in my project: http://365project.org/lyndemc/365/2014-01-09 . Interestingly enough, today's picture was taken right over the very spot of that "First Steps" photo, intentionally, as to symbolize coming full circle in a year's time.

Thank you ever so much for your interest and interaction over the past year. You're a wonderful community of fellow photographers and I'm honored to have shared my pictures with you for 365 days.

Here's to the next ones.
Congratulations!

Congratulations Denise.A job well done for your first year. I was a purest my first few years - self imposed as well!! I clearly remember as few nights at 11:45 jumping out of bed because in the hectic day I had forgotten to take a photo - that is when I discovered that even the door knob in the front hall was beautiful. :) I photographed everything in this house that first year. But my second year I had a macro lens and a whole new world and perspective opened up to me. The rest is history.
I am looking forward to seeing what you find in 2015. :)

I've been checking a lot to see how you finished your project. Your final photo is wonderful. I just looked at your first photo and I remember it. I just read all the above comments and I agree with so many of them. You are a great story teller that always go so nicely with your photos. As I've told you before, I absolutely loved your alphabet series. Also thanks for checking in on me when I gave up here. Thanks for your interest in Boston. Good luck for the next year. I'm sure there will be more amazing photos. I will be checking in but I cannot do another year. Today was actually the first day of the year that I picked up my camera. Big congratulations to you. You must be very proud of your project. Take care.

An original photo every day is no small task at all, and you pulled it off with a flair and creativity that the rest of can only hope to aspire to. I look forward to the next 365 days of contributions!

WooHoo!!!!!!! Congratulations Denise. You are a true artist. Almost every day, you had to go out and create your shots. It seems as if rarely was anything presented to you and all you had to do was press the shutter button. I don't know hw you managed to create so many wonderful compositions out of seemingly unphotogenic material. And for what it is worth, I think Macro March defined you and set you up for the rest of the year. I also liked the transition from Lyndemc to Denise. And just for the record, you were the third person I started following and the ninth person to follow me. I look forward to your next 365 days. Are you going to continue with the same self imposed rules?

So, it was lovely to look back on your first shot, and shots, and see the progress that you have made over a year. Your style has definitely developed as you've gone along and has gone from good to brilliant! I love all your detailed comments on other folks' images too. Well done you, and I look forward to seeing more from you too, I hope! xx

@rangerxenos Thanks so much, Dawn. It feels like a happy dance is in order! I appreciate the comments you've shared throughout the project.

@cruiser Thanks, Chris. Yes, looking back, it has been a good year. The nice thing I have picture to prove it!

@juliac Thank you so much Julie. I had to get a little rust in my final image, and quite a bit of brown too seeing as those were sort of trademarks of my project. :) I so appreciate all the interest you've shown in my project.

@aecasey Your congrats and compliment are much appreciated, April. I thought including rust and browns in this last image would be appropriate considering how much they played a part in my project.

@ckwiseman Carolyn, what a generous complement you've shared! Thank you, very much! Welcome to 365, by the way. I can honestly say it's a wonderful place to make a photographic journey. Best wishes to you on your project. I look forward to congratulating you on your 365th photo.

@dgrynn Thank you, thank you, thank you! That happy dance you mentioned — done did that. The toast to success, should be doing that too. Perhaps once I get all my thank you notes done. (I make enough typos and spelling errors without being tipsy.) Thanks so much for your interest in my project, the comments and compliments shared — you're always so kind and encouraging. You have just two weeks to go to realize the awesomeness of this 'completed' feeling. Trust me, it's wonderful!

@darylo Advice taken — I'm definitely savoring! Thank you for your time taken to come by and share a note of congrats. Truly appreciated, Daryl.

@cynthiak Thank you, Cynthia. Have to admit, this feels wonderful, having achieved a goal. Appreciate your dropping by.

@mpratt Mark! Thanks a whole, great big bunch!! You are one of those that got me through the beginning of this project with your amazing comments about my macro project. You were so enthusiastic and generous with your compliments, I found myself working doubly-hard to make sure the "lyndemc" quality was maintained. Thanks so much for that inspiration. Best wishes on your goal of 365 pics this year. You can do it!

@triciakano Tricia, you are ever the sweetest. I've always adored your notes and so appreciated them. Thank you for the congrats on the conclusion of this project. It feels wonderful to have accomplished the goal. There were a number of times I'd decided I wouldn't continue on with a second year but I was afraid my camera wouldn't get picked up as faithfully and the learning would come to an end, so I'm in it for another round. The self-imposed rules will be a little different this time tho. I hope we'll be able to keep in touch. I'd miss knowing how things are with you! Again, thanks for the congrats.

@vegansusan Thank you, Susan. You and your comments are and have been very much appreciated throughout this project.

@lynnz A big thanks to you for your note of congrats and the lovely compliments shared. It's words like that keep me dedicated to being particular and make the work some pictures end up being all the more worth it. As for the time devoted to this project, let's just say I've not slept as much in the last year. The wee hours of the morning have become 365 computer time, but it's time well-spent, and honestly enjoyed. Again, thanks. With pride. :)

@dide Thanks, Dianne. I really appreciate your congrats, as well as all the comments you've shared on my project. You've made the journey all that much more enjoyable. And by the way, your "365" picture was one of them that inspired my final image here. Thanks for the inspiration!

@rosiekerr Rosie, how sweet of you to share such a generous note of congrats. Our paths have only just recently crossed and I'm looking forward to more of the interaction. I'll be here for another round in this journey!

@stray_shooter Aww, thanks Ron. You've been such a fan which means you've been a huge inspiration in my daily efforts. It's been a riot having you along for this ride we call '365'. So glad you're here to make 2015 equally exciting. And thanks for the generous compliments. Wow, I'm honored.

@terryliv Warning: "War & Peace", Part 2, coming up. "WooHoo" is RIGHT!! This feeling of completion ROCKS!! But you already know that. Congrats again to you for achieving your project goal under the tough rules. My second year is going to have the same rules you've adopted; pictures taken within seven days of posting. There were so many days I told myself I wasn't going to do a second year but the fear of getting lazy about picking up the camera and continuing to learn new things led me to decide to carry on. I can now travel a little and use more than just two or three pictures from the adventure. Thank you so much for the thoughtful note of congrats on this final pic. I agree that Macro March was a changing point for me. It definitely saved me. But it was everyone's interest and encouragement that made it the success that it was. And for the record, in my list of those I follow, you are the first. The two originals before you have dropped out, which puts you in the poll position! Thank you so much for your interest and interaction over this past year. I'm looking forward to the next 365 too.

@dibzgreasley Many thanks, Deb, for the congrats on my reaching this special milestone. I'm quite chuffed (a word I've learned from my social interactions here) that you've enjoyed following me. I hope I can continue to keep that a truth. Here's to the next year of pictures!

@wearing0 Thank you, Debi. It feels wonderful and a great relief too. Towards the end I was worried that something dreadful would happen and I'd somehow miss a day. I told my husband that should I end up in a coma for some reason, to put my finger on a shutter button of some kind and push it down so I could still say I'd taken a picture each day. Ha! Thanks for all your comments along the way. You've been very encouraging.

@bella_ss Your congrats are truly appreciated, Sheralee. Your comments and compliments along the way have been most encouraging, let me tell you. Thanks for the time you've taken in visiting so often. As I was telling *lynn, I've gotten a lot less sleep this past year because I really wanted to be able to get in on the viewing and commenting, and saying thanks for the interest shown in my project. A long winter's nap may be in order now that I've reached the end of this particular journey. Nah, can't do that — I'd wake up way behind and that's a nightmare! Again, many thanks.

@vignouse Thank you ever so much, Richard. Your acknowledgement and compliment on my finished project is like a feather in my celebration cap. You've been quite the instructor through your pictures, comments and explanations to 365ers. If I knew half the technical info you do, I'd be rather proud of myself! Your knowledge of photography is impressive (and inspiring). Again, my thanks for your note of congrats.
