Where I Live

...there are cornfields everywhere you turn. And for awhile yet, an old barn here and there too.
Really super!

Great capture. Surprised there is corn this late in the season.

Pretty as a postcard! Looks like a very peaceful place to live.

@rickster549 Most fields in this area got planted late because of the endless rain we had back in the spring. Lots of fields are actually still empty as they did not dry out soon enough to plant. Here in IL harvesting doesn't normally begin until mid-to-late September; this year it'll be two-three weeks later which will be odd.

@janetb It is a peaceful place really - you can stand there in the middle of the road and not hear a sound save for the breeze rustling the corn leaves. I wish there were more birds sounds though... there's just no trees or marshes or other preferred habitats for them. :(

@lyndemc I see. Well, you certainly make the most of what you've been given there! Your photography is beautiful; and through it, your appreciation for life — even life without birdsong, trees or marshes — shines and inspires us all! ♥
