I love painting wildlife. This is what I really enjoy. Taking pictures, then painting. Painting flowers is so much more difficult for me. I've been working on flowers, and needed a break.
Thanks everyone for all the kind comments. I really do appreciate it and enjoy all of your pictures too.
What a beautiful painting!!! I love how you've painted his hair... Isn't this the photo you posted on April 17?!? What an amazing job in just a few short days!!!!!
@jonna Yes, this is from the shot taken on April 17. This painting took 5 hours. I'm usually pretty quick at animals, but labor over backgrounds, and flowers.
@bruni I'm working on a painting of a flower that is a picture taken by Wendy Chapman. She very generously allowed me to use it as a reference. I'll post that when it's done.
@wac Wendy this one and another are going into a Library exhibit. I have some paintings in two shops also. I give many away and have a ton laying around, as all people that paint do. :-) I'm struggling with your flowers. The flowers aren't too bad. The background is the problem.
@yoelao All it takes is practice, as far as I'm concerned. I believe anyone that wants to create art can. Especially people who love to take photos, have a create eye. That's a head start on learning.
Excellent, I paint, and draw, but nothing this classic, I've never thought of painting a picture I've posted - I think the grandure of your lion shots lends itself to it though.
@missyrosebee Missy, I have painted my Squirrels, but not the snow men.

Maggie, I think it is great that you show your paintings and share them with others. I would have loved to devorate my sons walls with them when they were younger. They are great. don't sweat those flowers. Just enjoy them!
I feel so touched whenever I think about you painting them. I am alwasy happy to supply more. It is really fun.
@wac Wendy, I will email you my progress shots and post the picture when I get it done. It's not coming too badly. The background is the trouble. The flowers are alright. Not my strong point. Thank you for letting me paint them.
You've got a wonderful artistic talent, Margaret! You certainly captured the lions shaggy majesty and with your brush; what a wonderful way to expand on your photo skills!
Awesome painting Maggie, great colors and textures!! Woe, wildlifeand people portraits are my favorite also. LOve landscapes and flowers, but painting them is SOOOO hard for me!! You ROCK!
Frikken Aaaaa... Magz I am AWOL for only two days and then have to scroll to South America to post here.. how comes you never tole me you was so abso-bloody-lutely talented.. you, lady, rock your bad azzz off... this is amazing.. as are you!!! Rock on lady, rock on!!!
this is beautiful... i also come from a love to paint background however i'm not all that good at detail... i also love alternative processes so one thing i've been doing with my flower and still life shots is using inkaid a photo emulsion and painting that on watercolor paper and then printing my shots... makes my prints look like paintings -- without all the hard work. you on the other hand have amazing skill and gift for detail and artistry.
wonderful talent Margaret.
