With its ridiculous proportions, this monument was built on Franco's orders to commemorate the dead of both sides in the Spanish Civil War. The cross is the largest in the world and inside the rock is an immense basilica, about the size of St Peter's. Franco himself was buried here until recently, but his body has now been exhumed and he has been re-buried in a Madrid cemetery. A slightly spooky place.
