Nativities by marilyn

Nativities

I spent about two hours setting up my 31 nativities (not counting the two pictures) this afternoon. One good thing about taking this photo for 365 is that now I have a record of how I have them arranged so maybe next year it will be easier. Every year I plan to take a photo of them, and I thought I did it last year, but I couldn't find it, so I had to rely on my memory (not a good thing!).

These nativities each have special meaning to me but some particularly stand out. The eight that are sitting on the left riser, and the one hanging directly above them, are my "ethnic" collection... one came from Alaska as a gift from my sister-in-law, one from Africa from a friend who was working in Rwanda, one I bought at the Polynesian Cultural Center in Hawaii, two were a gift from my sister and came from Bethlehem via a group selling them at church and the other four I ordered from a fair trade company. The one directly under the Madonna picture is made from Mt. Saint Helens ash and the wood one in front of that one is one my Dad made for me. The one in the olla (jug) is one Marvin and I bought for our 2nd Christmas together.

Game on sister! I don't know if I have one place where i can put all of mine for one shot or even if I can remember where they all came from.......... but you have inspired me to try! This is a beautiful photo by the way.

@grammyn Thank you so much for the compliment! I was wondering about your piano, but I suppose you need to have it open to play Christmas music with the grandkids? With the piano and maybe a small table in front of it (or the bench moved to the side to act as a table) you might be able to get them all in. I don't know how big yours all are, but some of mine are very tiny so they don't take up too much space.

@marilyn A great idea except for the playing part and it needs to be away from the curious hands of of a two year old. I an working on it though.

@heidievans73 Thanks... Have you considered getting a child's nativity for the little hands? I gave a magnetic one to a great niece a few years ago and I think she also had her own "regular" one on the coffee table (or other low table).
