Since last fall, Oakesdale and the surrounding area has been home to several families of moose. This afternoon when I got home from school Marvin could hardly wait to show me this pile of moose poop in our front yard about 3 feet from the house. You can also see hoof prints which lead down to the sidewalk, parking strip and street. Based on reports from our neighbors this is a single guy and has been in the neighborhood for at least 4 or 5 days. I say 'guy' based on what I read about the shape of the pellets – http://www.all-about-moose.com/moose-poop.html. They appear to me to be more pointed on one end and more rounded on the other indicating male. OK... enough poop talk for one afternoon! :)
Lol!! They look like kidney beans. Don't confuse those with Easter eggs next month!! My first photo EVER of moose poop! Thanks for that milestone moment!! (;
@grammyn I am so glad I could help you with a milestone moment! It's a first for me, too... first time I have ever had moose poop in my yard! :) I thought they looked like kidney beans, too... which may make eating chili a little more challenging in the near future. ;)
Thank you for the awesome description! I thought I was the only one who got to describe poop (baby poop charting at work)! Ha! Anyway, I had to click your tag poop to see what popped up and who knew there are 2 pages of poop pictures!!! So funny!
@rach_who At first, when I was still a ways away I thought it was a clump of little mushrooms growing in the grass! They do look like might be berries, and my sis and I thought they kind of look like kidney beans and my little sis thought coffee beans! Apparently moose poop is the chameleon of poop! :)
@darsphotos It is definitely weird looking... especially in the photo. In real life it did look more like animal poop and I only knew it was moose poop because we have had a moose in the neighborhood. :)
