YELLOW ALIEN by markp

YELLOW ALIEN

This is the flower of the Niger seed plant ( Guizotia abyssinia ). It has grown from split seed from the bird feeders, Goldfinches love it. The species oringinates from Ethiopia and other parts of East Afirca.
Beautiful yellow flower.

Fabulous. The only thing that grows from our bird seed is wheat and barley! I keep hoping for something more exotic but there you go!

@steampowered Thanks Paul, you need special feeders for niger seed, with very small slits in. Normally only Goldfinches with their very fine beaks use them.

Fab capture of the flower -- I let a whole load of them grow under my Niger seed bird feeder I suspect the goldfinch had been untidy at their meal-time !!
