Did not really have a lot of time to get a photo today, but spent far far tooo long fruitlessly chasing Bees, Butterflies and Birds up and down the garden. The Bees would only land on flowers out of reach. There were several Butterflies flitting around but none would settle long enough for a shot. In fact this year I have seen about eight different species in the garden but not got a decent shot of one yet. The birds would just not pose. Running out of time, I put some suet out, in the hope the Robin might be tempted and retreated to the kitchen to sort some food out. As that was cooking I stood in the kitchen doorway and kept looking out. I saw what looked like a flock of Goldfinches fly in and I grabbed a couple of shots of one before I realised it was not a Goldfinch. This is the best I could get of her, she is a female Redpoll, the male would have a small pink breast, not as bright as a Robin. She is a bit of a rare visitor to the garden, I have seen them before, but they don't seem to hang around or breed nearby. Realised I had todays shot, grabbed my dinner and finally went to work, not that late really.
I think the shot in my other album will either get Aww or Eeek!
I wasted time chasing a ladybug I wanted to photograph to compare to some of the ones you have shown. Of course, by the time I got back out with the camera she was gone and fruitless turning over of many leaves produced nothing.
@dh Yes it is almost a LBJ, but the red forehead does show quite well.
