LONELY BEETLE by markp

LONELY BEETLE

First of all my apologies to everybody for being absent from viewing and commenting upon your posts, just recently things have been really hectic. Twenty four hours in a day are just not enough, I have managed to take photos but not had the time to post them. There is nothing wrong just had loads more than normal to do. I am going on another cycle tour shortly, so have been doing more cycling and have got things to sort out before I go. Also I quite often find time whilst working to view and comment but and I am not complaining, I have not really had any quiet time. I hope to try and have a look in the next few days before I head North again.

I found this in the garden, but his black shiny colour has proved very difficult to photograph. He is a Alder Leaf Beetle ( Agelastica alni ), and is responsible for the holes in the Hazel leaves. He has been around for several days now, always on the same small branch but it does not appear that there are any others in the garden.

My other album has another insect visitor today.

You've got his shell nicely here with that subtle texture, and the lovely blue sheen. Nice detail on the antenna too.

This is one neat macro - look how shiny that shell is. Quite a shot.
