This fabulous looking falcon is the worlds fastest animal, swooping down from up high, on to unsuspecting prey, they have been recorded at speeds of 200 mph !
They rarely miss either.
I have been out with Falconers and watched them take Game birds. I also have been fortunate enough to know where there are wild ones, that will let you get close enough to watch them hunt. I have spent many hours sat on mountainsides or cliff tops, watching resting birds. Suddenly they take off, climbing high and ever higher, becoming tiny dots in the sky. Then they just drop out of the sky as if rocket powered, and in a split second have hit and caught their prey.
A totally awesome experience, that never ever fails to thrill.
