The cold weather has increased the number and variety of birds visiting the garden. All the feeders are busy most of the time. As well as all the regulars, the flocks of Starlings have returned after a break of 6 weeks or so, Blackbirds are increasing in numbers, and the Grey Wagtail is now a regular caller, his third winter here.
Mrs Sparrowhawk has also started dropping in looking for lunch.
It's interesting watching the different behaviour of the birds. Last Winter the Robin was quite tame, but the Great Tits were really hard to photograph, go outside and they were off. This year both Robins, are very skittish and hard to photograph, maybe because they are always chasing each other away. In contrast, this year this Great Tit appears totally indifferent to my presence and is happy to pose for me.
