BRESSAY LIGHTHOUSE by markp

BRESSAY LIGHTHOUSE

On Kirkabister Ness, on the southern tip of the Isle of Bressay, Shetland. It was built by Robert Louis Stevenson's father in 1858, and the light is now run automatically.

If you fancy a holiday with a difference, the former lighthouse keeper's cottages are available as self catering accommodation.

Looks like it would be an interesting holiday but would one want to live there for an extended period?

@gardencat It is not quite as isolated as you might think Joanne. roughly a three mile walk/cycle /drive North and you are then a ten minute ferry trip directly into the middle of Lerwick, Shetland's capital, and largest and busiest town.

Great capture. The lighthouse is remarkably similar to the one at Neist Point, Skye!
