Looking around Liverpool Cathedral, I was very surprised to come across this wonderful sculpture again. This is in the War Memorial Chapel, and I first saw it in the Bombed Out Church before Christmas, where it was on show for a week before going over to Flanders to go on show there over Christmas.
I did not know it had returned back to Liverpool.
The sculpture captures the moment, during the First World War, that the English and German soldiers stopped fighting for a few hours on Christmas Day 1914, and played football.
