In the house, I heard a very loud bang. From past experience I knew that a bird had hit the window. I looked out and could see a Starling sitting looking rather stunned on the floor. I went outside to check how it was but as I opened the back door it flew off into the bushes. So it is probably okay apart from a very bad headache.
I went back in and looked outside and then spotted the cause of his accident. What must have forced him into a mad dash, and into the window. A male Sparrowhawk was perched on top of the shed roof.
I grabbed the camera, climbed on the arms of a chair and stood rather precariously, taking photos through the window. He seemed quite happy to pose, even though he must have been able to see me.
Eventually he flew off, still hungry.
Great picture - I have done a balancing act on tables and chairs to get the angle I want too - when I fall and break something I will post pictures of the xrays!
A super capture -they are beautiful but so deadly to the smaller garden birds there is one hovering around here too and sat on the garden post for some time but I was upstairs and the camera downstairs !! -- just my luck !!
This is brilliant and an instant Fav. We haven't seen one in the garden for ages which is a good thing for the little birds but bad for me as I haven't managed a shot of one for ages.
