RED GROUSE by markp

RED GROUSE

For a long time the Red Grouse (Lagopus lagopus scotica), found in Great Britain and Ireland was thought to be a sub species of the Willow Ptarmigan, found in Europe. However I believe now that the consensus of opinion is that it is a separate species.
You will find it high up on heather clad mountains and moorland.

More wonders from Scotland here....

Like his wonderful setting, too - really fits your composition. Fav

Don't have any idea what species it is but it sure has beautiful feather patterns. Looks like it would be good camouflage for the heather-clad hills.
