MISTER & MRS HAIRY DRAGONFLY MAKING MORE DRAGONFLIES
Continuing to wander the Scottish Highlands.
At least that's what I think they are.
Anyone like to confirm these are Brachytron pratense or suggest another identity ?
They do look like them, but I found them well up in the Cairngorm mountains, much further north than their normal range.
Could they be the Common Hawker Mark? The two yellow stripes on the thorax looks like the photo in my book with the yellow and blue face and yellow and blue stripes on the abdomen. It looks like they are found right to the top of Scotland. It really is difficult to identify these beauties isn't it?
I can see why you think it is the Hairy dragonfly although I confess I did think you had made that name up until I looked! You got a great capture - they were obviously too busy to notice you.
