Such a perfectly presented specimen. You get in so close with these birds that I see features that I never realised were there - like the overlapping beak for example, on this sparrow.

Thank You, Jennie. Yes, male and female House Sparrows are quite easy to tell apart given a reasonable view of them.
Easiest might be to click on these two links.....in the first the male is on the right. In the second one there is only a male.....
