The sand on our beach in Monster near Hoek van Holland (you can see our port at the skyline) is comming from the deep waters of the North Sea. It is sprayed out just in front of the coast and it’s called the ‘sand engine’. Wind and current will distibute the 21 million cubic meters of sand along the coast to make it wider (for recreation) and safer againt the rising sea level. In 20 years time the sand will spread out along the coast all the way to the Waddenzee up North and beyond.
