It’s a view on Dordrecht (1650), where he lived and worked all his life. He never made a journey to Italy but he did bring the golden light into his paintings.

He became a legend in England and all of his work was sold to the British. There was a time not any piece of significance could be found in our country.
Tells a very good story.
