Bought myself a tripod and a remote shutter release control today! Pretty excited about the possibilities this opens up. (Side note: I also got a camera bag & lens cleaning kit. Yippee! I feel like a real photographer now!)
On my way home from the camera shop, I stopped at the corner of Dundas & Yonge, across from the Eaton Centre. Billboard upon billboard light up the square and make a surprisingly awesome photographic opportunity. In this photo, the primary source of light was a billboard a couple of feet behind and above me to my right. And all the fill light comes from the rest of the ads scattered around the square. There is no additional lighting.
Street photography does raise issues: a few minutes into my photo shoot a security dude suddenly appeared, asking me what I was doing. Thought crossed my mind that he might shut down my efforts. I found his questions intrusive. Brings up the question of "what is public space?"
