Had trouble deciding between this shot and another one as my p-o-t-d. This one has better light definition, but the other one has interesting interactions between the faces. Thoughts? http://365project.org/mathilde22cat/outtakes/2015-02-20
i like this one, especailly the grittiness, all the ingredients are understated, eg the little glitter in the eye, but add up to a feeling I like of observing and being unobserved,
I prefer this one out of the two I must admit. Super light and just enough detail in the background to add a bit of interest but not so much as to distract from the subject.
@kali66 I'm getting into playing the purposeful blotchy look of hi ISO in low light. I'm sure the purists would have a fit, but I kinda like the look. :)
I really like this shot- and I think it's a style of lighting Gibson could have addressed as a type of light in his book but didn't. In some ways it could be considered "dramatic lighting" or maybe even "hard lighting" because it has such a different feel and is usually comes from one direction. Whatever way it's classified, you've used it really well in this shot- right down to the reflection in your subject's eyes.
@eyeamlisa@olivetreeann Thanks Lisa, thanks Ann. Yes, the nature of the light is what caught my eye. Maybe it's because I went to see The Hobbit yesterday with my nephew, but I think the lighting makes the subject a little elvin, non? :)
