Commercial side is right. My sisters and I met in Gatlinburg for a Sisters Weekend a few years ago. The traffic jam through town was horrible. It took about as long to get from the edge of town to the hotel as it did to get from Charlotte to Gatlinburg.

@peggysirk yes When the crowds are there the traffic (both car & foot) is terrible.

I think I would prefer the non-commercial side. The more natural side. However, it is really nice to look at the commercial side as well.

@grannysue Whenever I drive through & it is busy I am always saying, “Don’t run over anyone.” A few years ago a lady I worked with stepped off the curb, her husband was walking along with the crowd, she got hit by a car & had a broken legs.....while he was walking in &out of stores....took a while for him to then get to her. Gatlinburg is good for people watching. Cade’s Cove/Townsend is a peaceful side of the mountain.
