Tobacco is no longer the cash crop of Kentucky. At one time hemp was widely grown in Kentucky & used for rope, etc. Farmers now have the ability to grow hemp for industrial use,
if they jump through hoops & follow all the rules.
We have a few farmers who are taking advantage of this. I saw this field of hemp this afternoon. It is a pretty field.
North Carolina farmers are jumping on the hemp wagon too. The big cash crop of the future.
