Row houses by maysvilleky

Row houses

During January of 1937 there was a huge flood in Maysville. These house were along the Ohio River. My mother told the story of helping friends move their stuff to the second floor where they then have to get it out the windows onto boats. Maysville secured federal dollars & built a flood wall….taking these houses river front views away…as well as the threat of flooding. During the 1960’s the city secured federal dollars for “urban renewal”…..tearing down the majority of these row houses & putting up parking lots. There are only a handful of these great places left. Young people have bought them & enjoy living “downtown”….walking their dogs…and to local bars & restaurants.
