The Gardener's Cottage by megpicatilly

The Gardener's Cottage

Years ago, these buildings would have been used by the gardener to store tools and boil up a kettle. One of the cottages has a big open fireplace which would have been very welcome on a frosty morning such as today. The sun was shining on the roof, giving it a warm glow.
Catherine that's a gorgeous photo! If you treated it to a little processing you could enter it into the ESTOOI challenge!

Beautiful setting. The old cottages make for a lovely subject and the light on the tired roof is excellent. Fav for me 😊

Beautiful cottages, they have such character.

Other than the roof damage and some missing panes, they almost look useable - what a shame to see them just be abandoned. Great shot with nice color and lighting.

You've captured these lovely old buildings really well, I like the light on the roof and on the trees behind. I'm sure whoever owns them would like a copy of your photograph

Beautiful! The light is so pretty!

This has such potential, I hope it doesn't become another abandoned property.

They are and especially in early morning.

@milaniet They would make nice holiday cottages, but at least the wildlife enjoy them!

@s4sayer They are part of a big house and not really suitable for development. The wildlife get a lot of pleasure though!

@photobird Thank you so much - they belong to my neighbour and this is the view from one of my windows! The light changes so quickly!

@megpicatilly Sorry Catherine I should have explained that the ESTOOI challenge is basically take an email and process it to bits then upload it and tag it the relevant ESTOOI tag. This time's challenge is around the theme of OLD or NEW - thought this would fit if you processed it a bit! http://365project.org/discuss/themes-competitions/29052/first-etsooi-of-the-new-year

Sue
Great shot, I love the light shining on the roof. Would never have guessed where they were if I hadn't read what you had written above.

@suesouthwood Thank you! I liked the light on the roof - it was only there for a few minutes!

I have often found that landscape images without a skyline have real impact and this is one of the best.

Beautiful to have so much colour in such a wintry scene.
