Abstract Oil by megpicatilly

Abstract Oil

A very grey and cold day left little inspiration for outdoors shots so decided to give an 'oil and water' shot a go. I clearly need more practice but it was fun to see how the bubbles chose to present themselves!
looks cool!

Its worked really well, like the 3 little bubbles on the side and the subtle colours in the background. Is it in something that the light is coming through or just lit from above?

Lovely tones and comp

Interesting shot Catherine, with different shades of the same colour

This is really cool - I love the colours and composition, and that you've got the repeating refraction in the 3 bubbles on the right. A fav for me, and something I'll have to try myself sometime!

@inspiredbynature Thank you! Will try again another time.

@photobird Thank you! It is in a glass container, with coloured paper below and lit with an angle poise lamp.

@ziggy77 @365anne Thank you - it was a fun thing to try!

@cottiac Thank you for the inspiration. The tripod bit didn't work - it clearly isn't flexible enough for me!!!! I will try again!

Great idea. I had seen this and was going to give it a go. You have inspired me now

@megpicatilly Tripod? I don't remember using one...you are going to have to remind me of what I said now!

@blueace @megpicatilly
I like taking my shots when Mitzi and I do the Dog Trot bit in the morning. Whilst our Winters aren't excessive, there are some days when the weather's seduction doesn't rock my boat. This sort of shot...somewhere between Playdoh and Hot Tub...looks like an interesting departure. Thank you for the scratching the itch.

@cottiac ha ha!! I saw it being used on the Internet so I dusted it down and ended up hand held.....!!!!!

@quietpurplehaze thank you Hazel.

@suesouthwood yes do - it is great to see all the different patterns.
January 7th, 2017
@megpicatilly Ah! No I definitely didn't need mine as you say - just not flexible enough for the task in hand.
January 7th, 2017
@s4sayer I used to take all my shots whilst walking my dog Meg. She loved walking in all weathers and I did too. Now I haven't got her it is more difficult to go out and find inspiration. This was fun - give it a go!

@cottiac these tripods...they are just aliens!!!!

@dawnee thank you. A bit of fun on a very grey day!

@megpicatilly Hehe! Handy when you have a bridge camera on full zoom. I tend to find something sturdy to lean against when I'm out and need a tripod. Even a willing human makes a great support!

Really lovely. You have so many fab, creative ideas!
January 7th, 2017
@cmp thank you Catherine but I find the creative bit so difficult - all good when I see something worth taking but if it's not there it is very hard!
January 7th, 2017
This is lovely. I like the colours and composition
